Wasabi Crumbed Prawns

Crisp and Crunchy, Hot and Spicy, tasty prawns

  • 6 green prawns
  • 1 teaspoon wasabi paste
  • 1 tablespoon (Kewpie) mayonnaise
  • ½-1 teaspoon wasabi paste *extra
  • ¼ cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 20g wasabi peas
  • 1 tablespoon cornflour
  • 1 small egg, lightly beaten
  • vegetable oil for shallow frying


  • Peel prawns and keep tails intact, devein and butterfly
  • Spread wasabi paste over the prawns, refrigerate for 20 minutes
  • Mix mayonnaise and *extra wasabi paste in a small bowl, set aside
  • Place breadcrumbs and wasabi peas into a food processor and pulse to combine
  • Dust the prawns in cornflour and shake off excess
  • Dip in the beaten egg and coat with the crumbs mixture
  • Heat oil in a frying pan oven medium-high heat. Add prawns and cook until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towel
  • Serve with wasabi mayonnaise. Enjoy!
  • Note: I prefer Kewpie mayonnaise but you can use whatever you have
