I have made this dish for my family many times and it’s always a winner.
Ingredients
- 2 lamb steaks
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon plain flour + enough for dusting
- 1½ teaspoons brown sugar
- pinch curry powder
- pinch dry mustard
- pinch ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon white vinegar
- 1½ tablespoons tomato sauce
- 3 tablespoons water
- dash Worcestershire sauce
Method
- In a small frypan melt the butter over medium-high heat
- Dust both sides of the steaks with a little of the plain flour
- Pan fry the steaks in melted butter, until just cooked, (approx. 3-5 minutes each side ) remove from pan and keep warm
- Combine the remaining flour, sugar, curry powder, dry mustard and ginger, cook for 1 minute in the pan juices, stirring to absorb the juices, then add the water, sauce’s and vinegar stirring to prevent lumps. You may need to add a little more water if so desired.
- Put the steaks back into the pan and reheat
- Serve with vegetables or salad of choice
