These meatballs have been adapted from a family favourite meatloaf.
Ingredients
- 100g beef mince *See note
- 50g sausage mince
- ½ small brown onion, chopped
- salt and pepper
- 2 tablespoons breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons milk
- ½ teaspoon curry powder
- ½ teaspoon chopped parsley
- 1 teaspoon oil
- ½ teaspoon butter
Sauce
- ¼ cup water
- 3 tablespoons tomato sauce
- 1½ tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon white vinegar
- ½ teaspoon instant coffee
- ½ tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
Method
- Combine the first 8 ingredients to make the meatballs
- Roll the mixture into balls. If too wet dust in a little plain flour
- Heat frypan over medium heat add oil and butter
- Pan fry the meatballs, turning to brown all over and cook for approx. 10 minutes
- Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, add the sauce ingredients, bring to the boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 2-3 minutes
- Pour sauce over the meatballs and cook for further 5 minutes.
Serve with vegetables of choice
Note: You can use 150g pork mince and omit the sausage mince if preferred
