Spicy Thai Beef Salad

A very popular and tasty Thai Salad

Ingredients

  • 120g-150g thinly sliced quality steak

Marinade

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lime or lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • Black pepper
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoon vegetable oil

Dressing:

  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 2 teaspoons fish sauce
  • ½ Thai red chilli, sliced (*reserve the other ½)
  • pinch sugar

 

Salad:

  • ¼ cup julienned red onion
  • 3 cherry tomatos halved
  • ½ cup celery leaves, chopped
  • 1½ tablespoons roasted peanuts
  • ¼ Lebanese cucumber, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sliced fennel
  • 1 radish, julienned
  • *½ red Thai chilli, sliced *optional (the other ½)
  • 1 green shallot, sliced
  • Coriander leaves, for garnish

Method

Marinade:

  • Gently pound the steak with a meat mallet
  • In a large zip lock, combine the marinade ingredients and add the steak, massage the  marinade into the steak and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  • Drain steak and grill 1-2 minutes each side (for medium rare), slice meat against grain into bite size pieces

Dressing:

  • Combine all ingredients and stir well

Salad:

  • Mix together the steak, salad ingredients, (except coriander) and the dressing in a bowl
  • Place on a serving plate and Garnish with fresh coriander leaves
